About Northern Snowbirds
Why Kenya? Why Now?
Northern Snowbirds was born from a personal journey.
Lucy Jeffrey is a Kenyan-Canadian entrepreneur who spent decades building businesses, communities, and leadership networks in Canada. Like many professionals from the Northern and Western Hemispheres, she followed the traditional snowbird path—escaping winter by heading south. Florida, Arizona, and similar destinations were the default.
But over time, Lucy began to ask a deeper question:
Why are we limiting our winter lives to the same crowded places when the world has so much more to offer?
That question brought her back home—to Kenya.
A Snowbird Journey Reimagined
Kenya isn’t just a warm destination. It’s a lifestyle upgrade.
As Lucy rediscovered Kenya through the lens of a global citizen, she realized it offered everything snowbirds seek—sun, warmth, comfort, community—and far more depth, meaning, and value than traditional snowbird hubs.
Northern Snowbirds was created to share that discovery with others.
This is not about tourism.
It’s about intentional living, cultural connection, wellness, and experiencing winter differently.

Why Kenya Over Traditional Snowbird Destinations?

Why Kenya Over Traditional Snowbird Destinations?
1. Warmth Without the Crowds
While destinations like Florida are increasingly congested, Kenya offers expansive landscapes, open skies, and space to breathe—without sacrificing modern comforts.
2. Exceptional Value for Money
Luxury in Kenya goes further.
High-quality accommodations, private services, domestic help, wellness experiences, and dining are significantly more affordable than in North American snowbird destinations—without compromising safety or standards.
3. Year-Round Sunshine & Ideal Climate
Kenya’s equatorial climate means consistent warmth without the extremes. Cool evenings, sunny days, and fresh air make it ideal for extended stays, not just short vacations.
4. World-Class Healthcare & Services
Major urban centers like Nairobi offer top-tier private healthcare, international-standard hospitals, and English-speaking professionals—giving snowbirds peace of mind.
5. Nature That Restores the Soul
From the Indian Ocean coastline to wildlife reserves, lakes, highlands, and forests—Kenya offers daily access to nature that is grounding, calming, and deeply rejuvenating.
This is not just a change of weather.
It’s a change of energy.
6. Cultural Richness & Human Connection
Unlike many snowbird destinations that feel transactional, Kenya offers genuine community, warmth, and hospitality. People know your name. Relationships matter. Life feels human again.
7. A Gateway to Purposeful Living
For many Northern Snowbirds, Kenya becomes a place to:
-
Slow down without stagnating
-
Reflect, write, create, and think
-
Explore philanthropy or impact projects
-
Reconnect with self and global perspective
OUR MISSION
Why Lucy Jeffrey Champions This Movement
Lucy’s decision to snowbird in Kenya was not nostalgic—it was strategic, personal, and deeply intentional.
As a Kenyan-Canadian, she understands both worlds:
-
The efficiency, structure, and pace of North America
-
The richness, resilience, and relational depth of Africa
Northern Snowbirds exists to bridge those worlds—offering a safe, supported, and curated pathway for snowbirds who want more than golf courses and gated communities.
This is for people who ask:
-
What else is possible for my winter life?
-
Can I live globally without giving up comfort?
-
Can my snowbird years be meaningful, not repetitive?
A New Snowbird Chapter
Northern Snowbirds is redefining what it means to migrate for winter.
Not just south—but forward.
Not just warm—but alive.
Not just familiar—but transformative.
If you’re ready to experience winter differently, Kenya may be calling you too.
